Police investigating 'violent disorder' outside shop as pavement left covered in blood

Police are investigating a 'violent disorder' outside a shop in south Manchester.

Officers were called to Princess Road near the Moss Side area at around 6am yesterday morning (Sunday). They were initially called to a 'report of a concern for the welfare of a man'.

An area of the road outside the Richie & Nickie Liquor Store was taped off. Blood could be seen on the pavement within the cordon.

A worker inside the shop said they had 'no idea' what had happened. Police said they are now investigating the incident after reviewing CCTV footage from the night before.

Anyone who has any information about what happened is being urged to come forward. In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "At around 6am yesterday morning (3 July 2022), police were called to a report of a concern for the welfare of a man outside of a shop on Princess Road, Manchester.

"Officers attended and after viewing CCTV footage from the night before (2 July 2022) enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances where violent disorder took place. Anyone with information should contact police via gmp.police.uk or 101 quoting 801 of the 3rd July 2022. Information can also be shared anonymously via the independent charity – Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
