Police called to secondary school as man assaulted and second arrested - live updates

Emergency services are at the scene of an incident at a school in Port Talbot. The incident happened on Wednesday morning at St Joseph's Catholic School and Sixth Form Centre on Newton Avenue and it is understood that a number of parents have collected their children.

Police said that one man, 51, had been taken to hospital and a second man, 54, had been arrested on suspicion of assault. The school said that no pupils had been involved in the incident.

A statement from the school reads: "An incident occurred at St Joseph's Catholic School and Sixth Form Centre this morning. The incident did not involve any pupils. The matter is currently under investigation by the police and the school are fully cooperating with their inquiries. We understand that this situation may cause concern within our school community and we would like to reassure you that pupil and staff welfare is our top priority."
