Police arrest driver 'so high on drugs' he failed to notice cracked windscreen
A motorist was arrested for driving under the influence of cocaine by Greater Manchester Police in the early hours of Tuesday.
Police were alerted to the driver after he was spotted travelling dangerously between lanes on the M602. They followed him and upon closer inspection they saw his windscreen had a significant crack in it.
A photograph of the driver's van accompanied a post early this morning just before 1am, which recounted the incident on the Greater Manchester Police Traffic Twitter account.
The post read: "This vehicle was stopped by #ME58 after travelling at 40mph and weaving between lines on #M602. The driver was so high on drugs he didn’t even notice his windscreen was cracked. Driver provided a positive sample of saliva for cocaine and was #arrested@NWmwaypolice#fatal4."
The penalties for drug driving, if convicted, are a minimum one-year driving ban, an unlimited fine, up to six months in prison and a criminal record.
