Police and emergency services respond to reports of man 'barricaded' inside property

Police and emergency services have responded to reports that a man has barricaded himself inside a property on a Cardiff housing estate.

South Wales Police said reports were made at about 8.35am on Wednesday morning regarding the incident at Lon y Goetre Fach, Plas Dwr.

Witnesses saw a large presence outside a block of flats on the road, and described the incident as a "stand off" between emergency services and an individual, with armed officers on the scene.

A spokesperson for South Wales Police said: "Emergency services were called at around 8.35am today following a report that a man has barricaded himself into a property on Lon y Goetre Fach, Plas Dwr. The incident is ongoing."

A spokesperson for South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said: "At approximately 8:36am on Wednesday the 12th of October, we received reports of an incident in St Fagans, Cardiff. Crews from Ely station are at the scene alongside emergency service colleagues. The incident is currently ongoing."
