Pogacar wins stage to take control of Paris-Nice

Tadej Pogacar won the fourth stage of this year's Paris-Nice, which took the riders on a 164.7km spin from Saint-Amand-Montrond to La Loge des Gardes.

The Slovenian also enjoys the overall lead in this year’s week-long race from the capital to the French Riviera, as local rider David Gaudu sits in second place in the General Classification, ten seconds off the lead.

Gaudu also picked up a podium place on Stage 4, finishing one second behind Pogacar, while Gino Mäder from Switzerland was third.

Denmark’s Jonas Vingegaard is in third place overall, 44 seconds off the lead, while British rider Simon Yates is fourth, 12 seconds further off Pogacar.

Ryan Mullen and Sam Bennett finished the fourth stage in 139th and 149th place respectively, over 22 minutes behind the first man home.

Bennett and Mullen sit in 124th and 146th place respectively in the overall standings in this year's event.

Irish cycling legend Sean Kelly holds the record for most Paris-Nice wins, having won the Race to the Sun seven times.
