PMQs live as Boris Johnson faces grilling about Partygate after fines issued

Prime Minister's Questions returns to the House of Commons today, after the Met Police issued 20 fines to people who attended lockdown-breaking parties in Downing Street and Whitehall. The names of the individuals facing penalties has not yet been revealed - and neither has the events which they attended.

Boris Johnson was among 100 people who were sent questionnaires relating to the investigation. A spokesman for the PM said Mr Johnson had not received a fine at this time but reiterated that Downing Street would make it known if that were to happen.

The Met Police have indicated that they expect to issue more fixed penalty notices as their investigations continue. The Prime Minister and his allies had an indication of public anger about the situation at a party for Tory MPs in London on Tuesday night where bereaved relatives of Covid-19 victims heckled senior Conservatives.

Mr Johnson will endure a further grilling from senior MPs at the Liaison Committee later in the afternoon.
