Plumber says change one thing in your room's layout to make it cheaper to heat

As the winter cold intensifies, turning up the heating seems like the only option for many households. Yet, despite turning the dial up, many people may find it takes a while for their room to feel cosy and warm, which can mean higher energy bills.

But a specialist from Your Plumber has stepped up with vital tips that could "channel the warmth" into your living spaces more efficiently, potentially cutting down on both time and energy costs.

The key to enhancing your heating system's effectiveness, according to the plumbing pro, is to clear any obstructions from your radiators. Simply changing your room's layout to move large furniture away from your radiators ensures the heat reaches your room and isn't being soaked up by the furniture.

To better "channel the warmth into the room", the plumber also recommend installing shelves above radiators to prevent hot air from going to waste by rising upwards. Additionally, they shared a simple life hack: "cover a thin sheet of card with tinfoil and place it behind your radiators."

This easy home improvement trick will "reflect the heat back into the room", accelerating the heating process and helping to sustain a cosy temperature for an extended period. The plumber also said it's important to "bleed your radiators" to get "rid of air pockets". To check if bleeding is needed, feel each radiator to confirm it warms uniformly, rather than just at the base.
