PlayStation: What is the greatest PS2 game ever?

Sony’s follow-up to the PlayStation that sold 102 million copies certainly blew its predecessor out of the water, selling around 155 million units.

Initially released in 2000, anyone of a certain age will have spent many hours on the console which was way ahead of its time in terms of graphics, although a long way back to what we have now.

Gaming Bible have conducted their own research into the top three games on the console to ever come out, awarding points to games from tier/goat lists from major gaming outlets and established YouTube channels.

The likes of IGN, Gamesradar+, Retro Dodo and WatchMojo were used to compile the list, with a scoring system for games depending on where they ranked.

Although not ranked with the bronze, silver and gold medals, the three games picked out are the top three, so it will be down to personal preference and experience to rank the games fully.

So without any further ado, let’s get into the top three games on Sony’s millennium masterpiece.

3. Shadow of the Colossus – 2005 (developed by Team ICO and Japan Studio)

Shadow of the Colossus was one of those games that got you hooked from the get go, with no distractions in their open world adventure.

You play as a horse riding protagonist, with the goal of slaying giant creatures along the way. Although the storyline wasn’t the best aspect of the game, the huge twist at the end certainly provided shock and entertainment for players.

Given the success in the early 2000s, the game was rereleased for PlayStation 4 in 2018, so experienced gamers could get hit with nostalgia.
