Playing Munster final in Limerick is right call - Anthony Daly

Anthony Daly says Clare will not be affected by playing the Munster SHC final on Limerick's home turf after the TUS Gaelic Grounds was confirmed as the venue for the showpiece game.

Semple Stadium and Páirc Uí Chaoimh had been proposed as potential grounds for the 11 June collision, with the Banner keen to play the match in Tipperary and Limerick leaning towards Cork.

In the end the counties agreed to play it in Limerick, meaning the Treaty will have home advantage, abeit tickets will be split 50-50 between both sets of supporters.

"Logistically, it's a good venue for everyone," Daly told RTÉ Sport.

"It's ten minutes from the likes of John Conlon, Diarmuid Ryan, the Shannon lads, the 'Bridge lads. It's a great venue, right on the doorstep - easier to get to for those lads than Cusack Park.

"Clare played them there five weeks ago. What's the big deal? We all saw last Sunday [during Limerick's thrilling win over Cork], it's a fantastic stadium. Fifty-fifty on the tickets, bring it on. Let them at it. They produced an incredible Munster final last year."

Daly believes a Páirc Uí Chaoimh setting would have been particularly awkward for Clare.

Their last outing was against Cork at a capacity 18,659 in Cusack Park in Ennis ten days ago.

The jaunt to Limerick is a lot more straightforward than a spin to Cork city.

"It would have been a big worry for Brian Lohan and the team as well because the match is on at quarter to two, you'd have to get to Cork, what time do you leave?" Daly added.

"It would have been a bit of a nightmare. For everybody this is easier.

"It's a field with goalposts! These two teams know each other well, they'll go at it, and we can't wait."
