Player of the month recognition for Kerry's Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh
Kerry forward Louise Ní Mhuircheartaigh has been named the Croke Park/LGFA Player of the month for July.
The 32-year-from the Corca Dhuibhne club has played a key role in the Kingdom's march to a second successive TG4 All-Ireland senior final.
Ní Mhuircheartaigh, with a running total of 4-24, is the current top scorer in the All-Ireland series as Kerry aim to end a 30-year Brendan Martin Cup famine.
The Munster side will play Dublin at Croke Park on 13 August, where they will look to erase the memories of last year's final loss to Meath.
In the month of July alone, Ní Mhuircheartaigh scored 0-5 against Cavan, 0-3 in the quarter-final victory over Meath, and 1-10 against Mayo in an outstanding individual semi-final performance that earned her the player of the match award.
Ní Mhuircheartaigh, a vastly-experienced inter-county player and a three-time All Star, will assume on-field captaincy duties for the All-Ireland decider in the absence of injured skipper, Síofra O’Shea.
