Pittsburgh Steelers: Fan in uproar over Mike Tomlin's comments on Kenny Pickett

Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin and his comments about quarterback Kenny Pickett have caused something of an uproar amongst fans.

The Pittsburgh Steelers fell to 1-3 on the season yesterday as they lost 24-20 to the New York Jets at home, but that certainly wasn’t the biggest talking point that came out of the game. Rather that was the decision for Mike Tomlin to make a change at quarterback and put in Kenny Pickett for the first time in a regular season game. 

The Steelers offense has certainly struggled at times this season, with offseason free agent signing Mitch Trubisky not exactly setting the world alight in the backfield, ranking dead last when it came to yards per attempt at 5.5 amongst qualifying quarterbacks so far this season coming into the game, whilst only throwing for 2 touchdowns in the first 3 and a half games.

So Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin was presented with little option yesterday as he turned to Pickett to start the second half for the Steelers after they had only managed to put up six points in the first half, both of them field goals from kicker Chris Boswell. 

And boy did things get more exciting after that

Even though his first pass didn’t go the way that he wanted to, getting intercepted after heaving the ball downfield for wide receiver Chase Claypool, there was certainly a lot more life in the Steelers offense when he came on the field, as he ran for two touchdowns to give them a great chance of picking up a victory.
