Pittsburgh Penguins rule out Sidney Crosby for Game 6 vs. New York Rangers
Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby will not play in Friday's Game 6 against the New York Rangers, coach Mike Sullivan told reporters.
Crosby was ruled out after suffering an upper-body injury in the second period of Wednesday's Game 5 loss. Sullivan said Crosby skated Friday morning with Ty Hennes, the team's skating and skills development coach.
The center was injured on a high hit by Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba. Crosby finished his last shift with 6:50 left in the second period and did not return to the 5-3 Rangers win, which narrowed the Penguins' first-round series lead to 3-2.
The NHL said Thursday that Trouba would not have a hearing or be fined for his hit on Crosby.
Crosby, a three-time Stanley Cup champion and two-time Hart Trophy winner, has nine points in five playoff games.
