Piers Morgan reveals chat with Manchester United hero Cristiano Ronaldo over Arsenal transfer

Piers Morgan has revealed that he has recently spoken to Cristiano Ronaldo about a possible move to Arsenal.

The Gunners-mad fan urged his club to bring in the striker amid reports the Portugal captain could potentially leave Old Trafford upon the arrival of Erik ten Hag. He accused United players of not showing Ronaldo enough respect and criticised the attitude of his team mates.

Morgan also said how he would take Ronaldo “in a heartbreak” at the Emirates. The 37-year-old his club’s top scorer this season with 22 goals.

The journalist famously interviewed the United legend in 2019, showing him some footage of his father that he had previously never seen. He’s claimed to have a bond with the attacker ever since and revealed on talkSPORT that he had chatted to Ronaldo over a possible Arsenal switch.

He said: “Do you know what I'd do if I was Arsenal manager? I'd go in, get Cristiano Ronaldo and put him up front. I've had this conversation with him last week. I said 'come to Arsenal'.”

When asked to reveal what Ronaldo replied, though, Morgan failed to answer. He instead suggested that the United squad have a lack of respect for the superstar.

He added: “I don't feel like there's that respect from those young guys at United for Ronaldo. If you had even a tenth of his work ethic, his ability, his success and his trophies all around the world then you'd be much better than you are now.

“But there's an arrogance there about those players which we don't have at Arsenal.” Morgan pleaded with Arsenal to make a punt for Ronaldo, praising his performance in the 3-1 loss to the Gunners on Saturday.
