Piers Morgan offers ‘better’ alternative to Roy Keane’s Manchester United best Premier League XI

Roy Keane has not picked the correct Manchester United’s all-time Premier League XI, according to Piers Morgan.

Keane revealed his selections on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football following United’s 3-0 win over Brentford. He admitted it was hard to choose from the plethora of heroes that have graced the Old Trafford pitch, but settled on a line-up and erven omitted himself.

The Irishman chose Peter Schmeichel in goal with Gary Neville, Gary Pallister, Jaap Stam and Dennis Irwin across the backline in a 4-4-2 formation. David Beckham and Ryan Giggs were named on the flanks with Paul Ince and Bryan Robson sitting in midfield.

For the two strikers, he chose Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo. However, famous Arsenal fan Morgan has taken exception to his selections.

He put forward suggestions of his own in a much-changed line-up. While Schmeichel, Neville and Irwin made the cut, he chose Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic at centre-half.

Paul Scholes and Keane himself joined wingers Giggs and Ronaldo in midfield while Morgan went for Eric Cantona and Ruud Van Nistelrooy up top, leaving out all-time scorer Rooney.

Both selections have caused major discussion between United fans online, with many surprised at Morgan’s Rooney omission.
