Kaizer Chiefs fans in their thousands stormed the Danie Craven Stadium pitch in jubilation after Itumeleng Khune's double penalty save ensured their MTN8 quarter-final victory against Stellenbosch on Sunday.
Goals from Sihle Nduli and Ashley du Preez ensured the match ended 1-1 in regular time, and neither side could find the back of the net in extra time to send the game to a shootout in front of a hostile crowd.
The match, which was sold-out, was delayed by thirty minutes due to traffic congestion and fans without any tickets forcing their entry into the stadium, including destroying fencing to get into the main grandstand of the stadium.
There was further match stoppages for fans flooding the pitch after Du Preez's equaliser, with Khune urging fans to get back into the stands.
However, after he made his heroic double save to deny MTN8 debutant Stellies a passage to the semi-final, fans could not contain their excitement and flooded the pitch in celebrations.
