PICS | Glory days are back? New Banyana, Bafana 'legacy jersey' sets tongues wagging
Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana national kit manufacturer Le Coq Sportif launched a new retro jersey, calling it the "legacy jersey", on Freedom Day on Thursday that was reminiscent of the men's national team's glory days.
The new strip by the French apparel manufacturer brought in heavy elements from Bafana's 1996 Africa Cup of Nations-winning jersey, with a tinge of the 1998 shirt in which Bafana made the 1998 Afcon final.

With Women's Afcon champions, Banyana, heading to the FIFA Women's World Cup in Australasia, starting 20 July this year, the alternative jersey has added to the excitement ahead of the biggest tournament in women's football.

It's the second time in a row that head coach Desiree Ellis' women have qualified for the World Cup after making the edition in France four years ago.
