Barcelona have been told to either reduce their costs or generate income to be active in the summer transfer market.

La Liga have told the Nou Camp side that they will not be able to sign players unless they shift some members of their squad or renegotiate contracts with players.

Barcelona have had their spending limit capped to -£121 million, the only club in La Liga and Spain's second tier to have a negative cap.

La Liga outlined each team's summer spending ability on Monday with Barcelona told they cannot bring in players unless they take action to bring money into the club through player sales.

Villa youngster Tommi O'Reilly has signed his first professional contract.

O'Reilly, 18, was promoted to the first-team by Villa boss Gerrard last month.

Invited to join the senior Villa players in February for a behind-closed-doors game with Norwegian side Molde last month, O'Reilly has now committed his future to the club.

An attacking midfielder, O'Reilly joined 16 year-old Jayden Barber in linking up with Villa's first-team squad and was included on the substitute's bench for the games against Brighton and Hove Albion in February and Southampton earlier this month.
