Phil Foden sets Man City challenge after Club World Cup win vs Fluminense

Manchester City star Phil Foden as set his teammates the challenge of winning all five trophies which they have amassed over the course of 2023.

Foden was one of the standout performers for the Blues in Saudi Arabia as they brushed aside Brazilian side Fluminense in the FIFA Club World Cup final. After Julian Alvarez chested the ball home inside the opening minute, City were rarely threatened by their South American opponents.

The advantage was doubled before the half-hour mark as Foden's attempted cross deflected off Nino and into the back of the net. City's academy graduate had to wait until the 72nd minute to get his goal, sliding in at the back post before Alvarez added gloss to the scoreline with a fierce strike.

City's success in the Middle East capped off an incredible 2023 which saw them lift the; Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and the Club World Cup. While Foden is happy to bask in this glory now, he insisted it is only going to drive him and his teammates forward for more success.

He explained to City TV: "I think that's me won everything now in England as well. I'm so delighted like I said. It's all down to the team and the manager as well.

"It's such a great side and we love winning trophies. It's our first time we're here and we want to do that again now and try and repeat what we've done. It's been an unbelievable journey and we want to continue winning."
