Phil Foden's Brighton stat provides reasons for Man City optimism

Manchester City's Phil Foden will be relishing the visit of Brighton and Hove Albion on Wednesday night considering his form against the south coast side.

City are hopeful of returning back to winning ways on Wednesday night after being knocked out of the FA Cup by Liverpool on Saturday. An Ibrahima Konate header and a brace from Sadio Mane gave the Reds a commanding lead at Wembley Stadium before the break.

Jack Grealish gave the Blues hope just after half time and Bernardo Silva scored to create a tense end to the fixture but Jurgen Klopp's side held on to book an FA Cup final appearance against Chelsea. One man who will be happy to see Brighton as City's next fixture will be Foden.

Foden has been involved in five goals in just three Premier League starts against the Seagulls, scoring four and assisting one. What is more, the 21-year-old has scored more goals against Brighton than any other team in the Premier League.

The England international has had yet another fine season under Pep Guardiola. He has cemented a regular starting position at the Etihad Stadium and has scored 11 goals in 38 appearances this campaign with nine assists to his name too.
