Phil Foden lifts lid on Man City's season hopes, training with Haaland and Mikel Arteta's impact

Manchester City's Phil Foden has opened up on having a better understanding with Pep Guardiola, the impact of Erling Haaland in their side and Mikel Arteta's influence as a coach.

Guardiola's side fought back from two goals down to win 4-2 on Saturday during a thrilling match against Crystal Palace at the Etihad Stadium. The Blues were tested and - not for the first time this season - showed great resilience to roar back thanks primarily to Erling Haaland's hat-trick and a stellar performance from Bernardo Silva.

Foden has already registered a goal and two assists in City's first four games of the season, but his link-up play with Haaland came under the spotlight in the opening matches. The 22-year-old had chances to square the ball to the Norwegian striker against both Bournemouth and Newcastle, opting to shoot instead on both occasions. But on Saturday it was his cross for Haaland to convert that kick-started the Blues' brilliant comeback.

There is no doubt that Haaland's teammates are still getting to grips with having a striker of his calibre in their team, yet Foden will be all too aware that his new striker will more than likely have found a yard of space in the box as City charge forward.
