World number two Peter Wright exited the Grand Slam of Darts after losing to Michael Bunting 5-3 in Group E.
Reigning European Champion Wright struggled to get going and crashed out of the competition in the group stages for the third time in four years.
Michael van Gerwen advanced to the last 16 after he beat Martijn Kleermaker 5-4 to top Group D.
The world number three built on Sunday's victory over Rob Cross as he held his nerve to beat his fellow Dutchman in the final leg.
The score was tied at 4-4 before three-time PDC World Champion Van Gerwen hit double two for the match.
Nathan Aspinall, who had already qualified for the next round, lost to Ricardo Pietreczko 5-4.
Dave Chisnall edged the already-qualified Stowe Buntz 5-4 and Cross defeated Fallon Sherrock 5-2, while Damon Heta trailed all game before coming through to beat Women's World Matchplay champion Beau Greaves 5-4.
Fermanagh man Brendan Dolan was beaten 5-4 and eliminated by Danny Noppert, who topped Group F.
