Peter Leven hints at Jimmy Thelin Aberdeen FC appointment timeline as Monday meeting could prove key

Peter Leven says he's set to meet with the Aberdeen board on Monday over his future with the appointment of Jimmy Thelin edging closer.

But for now he's focused on Saturday's clash with Dundee and getting the most out of his interim spell. The Dons are close to appointing Thelin who is expected to join at the end of the season. It's expected Leven will keep the reins til then and he will be tasked with steering them comfortably clear of relegation - with the bonus of a chance at Scottish Cup glory.

They face Dundee on Saturday and Celtic at Hampden a week later and while Thelin is set to meet with the board on Monday, where the board will shed some light over the situation, he's fully focused on their final pre-split clash for now. He said: "I've not spoken to anyone yet. I've got a meeting on Monday, but my focus again is just on this game on Saturday. That is the most important thing for me. We've got a meeting with the senior staff on Monday, so we'll take it from there."

Asked what advice he has for any new manager, first team coach Leven said: "It is a great club, a huge club and it has potential to go even higher. Obviously you've seen that this season with the games in Europe, a league cup final and Scottish Cup semi-final, so anybody coming in, it is a great club."

Leven insists his players are fully focused this week following the goalless draw against Livingston last Saturday as the ninth-placed Dons prepare to meet a Dundee side who still have top-six possibilities. He said: "They know their roles and responsibilities to this club. I know my job, the staff know their job, so the main focus is Dundee and that's the most important thing."
