Peter Grant in damning Rangers verdict on Alfredo Morelos again as Celtic hero brands fitness 'not good enough'

Brutally honest Peter Grant has taken aim at Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos as he questioned the fitness of the Colombian in a furious defence of Antonio Colak.

The former Celtic midfielder hasn't been shy in taking swipes at the Colombian having previously told Gio van Bronckhorst the Ibrox talisman was a "liability" and wouldn't be a loss if he was sold this summer. Grant has gone on the offensive again over Morelos after the striker was not brought off the bench during the Champions League playoff first leg against PSV Eindhoven.

During the 2-2 draw, Ibrox boss Van Bronckhorst stuck with the scorer Colak after he netted the opener against the Eredivise side with fan favourite Morelos remaining on the bench. The 26-year-old may have netted 114 goals since joining Rangers from Helsinki in 2017, and was a major part of in the early rounds en route to the Europa League final last season, but Grant insists it was the right call from the Dutch boss.

Former Alloa and Dunfermline boss Grant suspects the striker's fitness is behind his absence. He told The Go Radio Football Show: "I would rather not talk about Morelos because people think I am critical of him, but I don't think he works as hard. I don't think he is fit.

"Also, the other night tactically it was the wrong decision to put him on at that particular time. He's not played many games, and Colak is not burnt out because he is still chasing down (opponents). Rangers are still in the tie, you know.

"You change your striker sometimes to get a goal, but you've got to remember now it's not the two goals rule when you are going away from home. That's very important.
