Peter Dooley the latest to extend Connacht contract

Peter Dooley is the latest player to agree a contract extension at Connacht, with the prop signing a one-year deal to remain in Galway.

The Offaly native, who joined Connacht in 2022 from Leinster, has a second-year option on his new agreement which could see him remain at the province until the summer of 2026.

The 29-year-old has been a regular in the Connacht matchday squads in his two seasons under Andy Friend and now Pete Wilkins, playing 31 times, while he has featured in all but two games this season.

"I'm delighted Peter has extended his contract with Connacht," head coach Wilkins said.

"A dynamic and skilful ball carrier, and proficient setpiece forward, he has established himself as a valuable and popular member of our squad.

"With huge URC experience and still only 29, Peter will be a key part of the team's growth moving forwards."

Dooley played more than 100 games for his native Leinster before joining Connacht two summers ago, while he also earned a call-up to the Ireland squad for the 2021 summer Tests against Japan and the USA.

Dooley joins Cathal Forde, Shamus Hurley-Langton and Shayne Bolton in extending his stay at the province in recent weeks.
