Peter Crouch responds after hilarious viral tweet 'thinking he had died'

A fan’s tweet thinking Peter Crouch ‘had died’ went viral earlier this week.

Following Liverpool’s 2-1 victory over Southampton at St Mary’s, Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher, Jamie Redknapp and presenter Kelly Cates were reviewing the match.

As it was the final home game of the season, the Saints players and their families were enjoying themselves on the pitch after the final whistle.

Meanwhile, the groundsmen were putting the pitch away for the summer. They could be seen wheeling along a rather lengthy trolley with a black cover over the top – presumably to put the goalposts in.

However, Twitter user @Jimathon thought it was being used for something else – Peter Crouch’s coffin.

He tweeted: “Thought Peter Crouch had died for a sec,” accompanied by the video.

To say it went viral would be an understatement as it racked up more than 7k retweets and 100k ‘likes.’

And now, Crouch has responded and we’re pleased to report that he hasn’t died.

He replied: “I’m ok guys thanks for your concern.”

The match in question, Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Southampton 2-1 after going behind to an early Nathan Redmond strike.

However, the Reds, who made nine changes for the trip to the south coast fought back with a Takumi Minamino strike before half time.

In the second half, Joel Matip put Liverpool ahead with a deflected header – a lead that they held on to.

The victory meant Liverpool ensured the Premier League title race would go down to the final day as they sit one point behind Manchester City.
