Peru complete 4-0 Davis Cup win over Ireland

Ireland lost their Davis Cup play-off tie 4-0 after Saturday's action – but day two saw much better performances at the Estadio Asia.

The prize on offer was a spot in World Cup Group 1, the second tier of the men's game, but with Peru taking a 2-0 lead on Friday, the chances of progression were low.

Still, Ireland knew that a doubles win would get them back into the competition, and Simon Carr and Jack Molloy really pushed Ignacio Buse and Jorge Brian Panta hard.

In the first set, Ireland held their serve to go 1-0 up but Peru broke them twice in a row to move 4-1 ahead.

Ireland did break back in the sixth game, but Peru took the first set 6-2.

Well done to Michael Agwi and Jack Molloy on their debuts for Ireland today!
