Perthshire golfers selected to represent Scotland at European team championships

Perthshire golf ace Daniel Bullen has been selected to represent Scotland at the European Boys Team Championship.

The Auchterarder member (17) will travel to GC St Leon-Rot in Germany with the national squad for the showpiece on July 5 to 9.

He is part of a six-strong team including Ross Laird, Callum Kenneally, Oliver Mukherjee and Niall Shiels Donegan and Archie Finnie.

“It’s a special one,” Daniel said of his selection. “It is going to be a great trip away.

Daniel, who was involved in regional qualifying for The Open this week, continued: “We have a really solid team for the Europeans and we’ll try do the best we can. That is all you can do.

“I’ve now got a week and a half of good practice before I head away. I’ll be playing as much as I can.”

Two other Perthshire golfers will be pulling on the Scotland colours on the same dates.

Fellow Auchterarder member Rory Franssen and rising star Connor Graham, of Blairgowrie, will contest the European Amateur Team Championship at Royal St George’s Golf Club in England.

“I’ve spoken to Rory a bit and we cross paths,” Daniel said. "It’s an awesome achievement for the club to have two players in the national teams.

“It shows what the club can do and hopefully it helps to inspire the next
