Perthshire golfer Gregor Graham bounces back from injury with Dutch Junior Open win

Perthshire golfer Gregor Graham hit top form at the weekend to claim the Dutch Junior Open title in style.

The Blairgowrie member produced brilliance at Toxandria Golf Club to finish three shots clear of his nearest challenger.

Graham (18) carded impressively consistent rounds of 68, 69, 68 and 69 for a 13-under par total, which ensured he remained above second-placed Oscar Holm Bredkjaer of Denmark.

“I tore part of my Achilles tendon on the left side,” Graham explained. “I’ve been on and off all year since January.

“Overall, it was just amazing to get a win again. It was a fun experience and the tournament was so cool.”

Crisp wedge play and a hot putter ensured Graham’s name remained at the top of the leaderboard.

“At the start of the week I struggled a little with getting used to the swing,” he admitted. “It was a little uncomfortable.

“But after a couple of days I was dialled in with my wedges. My wedge play and putting was really good.

“Even if I hit a couple of loose tee shots, I was still able to capitalise. I could’ve been even lower because I was giving myself so many opportunities.”

It was double delight in the Netherlands as, in the girls’ event, Scotland’s Carmen Griffiths also took top honours.

Graham said: “It’s always nice to see others from the country
