Perth's Glenearn Badminton Club named Badminton Scotland's Club of the Year

A badminton club from Perth has been recognised as the best in the country.

Glenearn was named Club of the Year at the Badminton Scotland Awards - held at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow - this month.

Organisers noted there were difficult decisions for the judging panel to make across a range of categories

Held as part of the wider Scottish Open Badminton Championships, the awards event sought to recognise and reward performance athletes and voluntary contributions in sport.

Glenearn Badminton Club was shortlisted among a range of first class clubs operating across Scotland and was awarded the accolade of Club of the Year.

Its continued commitment to championing inclusion in sport - ensuring everyone can participate - was highlighted.

Delighted club president Frazer Robertson told the PA: “Being recognised by our governing body in this way is the culmination of the collective efforts of all members of our club who have helped to establish a positive reputation of a strong Perthshire welcome.

“Our committee and wider group of volunteer coaches work tirelessly to deliver the range of sessions we offer together with additional community engagement initiatives, working in partnership with organisations such as Live Active Sport, Perth and Kinross Disability Sport and LEAP Sports Scotland.

“This has led to considerable growth in membership in recent years and is a testament to everyone involved.”
