Perth curlers aiming for more success at the Scottish Senior Championships

They proudly lifted the trophy last year and would love to embark on another celebratory adventure.

But Perth curlers on the hunt for more Scottish Senior Championships silverware realise that, in order to add to their collection, there is no room for complacency and top form must be found.

Mairi Milne, Katie Loudon and Wendy Johnston are representing Team Lockhart - alongside Jackie Lockhart - at the Lanarkshire Ice Rink this week.

“We expect all the games to be close and tough again,” said Milne, who plays at third.

“There are no new teams this year, so everyone has the experience of playing together.

“We would love to think that we can finish on top again come Sunday, but we’ll need to play well to do that.

“It doesn’t get any easier. I suppose we’re all getting older!

“If we play well, we’ll have as good a chance as anyone else and that is all we can try to do.

“We have done what we can to make sure we are prepared and now we need to go and enjoy it.”

Team Lockhart have certainly enjoyed a productive season so far and were delighted to make the quarter-finals of the prestigious Mercure City of Perth Masters at the start of the year.

They were able to test themselves against some of the best teams who constantly tour around Europe and beyond.

“We have had another good season,” Milne told the Perthshire Advertiser on Tuesday.

“Jackie is back at skip, myself at third, Wendy at second and Katie at lead still.

“We started the season pretty well at the Forfar Open and then won the Edinburgh International.

“More recently we were lucky enough to be invited to play in the ladies section of the Mercure City of Perth Masters.

“There were no other seniors playing but we managed to get to the quarter-finals. We were pleased.
