"Perfect signing" - Journalist drops Everton verdict on 6 ft 1 titan who Lampard wanted before

Burnley defender James Tarkowski would be the “perfect signing” for Everton this summer, claims journalist Pete O’Rourke.

The 29-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season and has recently been linked with a move to Goodison Park.

Football Insider recently claimed that Everton are keen on signing Tarkowski in the upcoming transfer window if they avoid relegation.

The same outlet states that the Toffees are in the market for a proven Premier League centre-back, with the £19.8m-rated Englishman fitting that criteria.

In total, Tarkowski has spent six seasons in the top flight with Burnley, making just over 190 appearances.

However, his time at Turf Moor now looks to be coming to an end as he approaches the final month of his contract.

Given their defensive problems this term, O’Rourke thinks Tarkowski would be a great addition to Frank Lampard’s side.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the transfer insider said: “For Everton right now, they probably need somebody with a bit of leadership in that backline, someone who can dominate as well and put their head on the line and put it into dangerous areas to clear things.

“So I think Tarkowski would be the perfect fit for them because they do obviously need some defensive reinforcements in the summer considering their defensive record this season. They’ve conceded so many goals, so I think Tarkowski would be a perfect signing for Frank Lampard’s side.”
