Perez concerned new circuits ‘lack character’

Sergio Perez lauded the announcement of F1 racing in Las Vegas, but has emphasised the need for the sport to respect its history and for any new circuits to add “character” to the calendar.

The third race in the United States will begin from next season in ‘Sin City’, under the lights on a Saturday night with a part of the street layout taking place on the world famous Las Vegas Strip.

The Red Bull driver is excited to race in one of the world’s iconic tourist destinations, but was keen to add that Formula 1 needs to stay true to its roots and maintain the presence of its most historic tracks – and worries some of the new circuits arriving in the sport lack the “character” of traditional venues.
