Pereira in: Is this Bradford City’s best XI on paper when every player is fully fit?

Bradford City will be hoping they can put together a run of results towards the end of the season so they can mount a promotion push next year under Mark Hughes. 

It’s been another disappointing season for Bradford that promised so much. However, the arrival of Mark Hughes has once again put the club into the spotlight, letting everyone know exactly how big of a club the Bantams actually are.

Bradford sit firmly in midtable on 46 points and whilst it’s not mathematically impossible to be relegated or finish in the playoffs, it seems both are unlikely.

That shouldn’t stop the build towards next season though with plans most definitely underway for a promotion push under Hughes next season.

It’s clear Bradford boast some talented and experienced players in their mix, but their inability to put a consistent run of form together has dogged them for a number of seasons now.

So with that in mind, we’ve taken a look at what we think is Bradford’s best lineup on paper, when every member of their squad is fit and available.

Bass gets the nod in goal having arrived on loan in January from Portsmouth and has so far shown his ability and could well push on next season as Portsmouth number one.

Oscar Threlkeld and Liam Ridehalgh offer energy and width in the wide full back areas while reliable performers Paudie O’Connor and Yann Songo’o deputise at centre back. O’Connor has been particularly impressive and averages six aerial duels per game which is amongst the highest in the league.

Both Elliott Watt and Alex Gilliead provide the support in the engine room having put in reliable and consistent performances from the middle of the park. Gilliead’s tackling and ability to sweep up the danger provides Watt with the chance to break lines
