Patrice Evra ripped into Pep Guardiola in a scathing rant recently.
The Frenchman accused him of ‘taking away his players’ responsibilities’ and said he’s ‘glad he was never coached by him’.
Hesaid on Amazon Prime Video, per Goal: “I have a lot of respect for Guardiola but I’m glad I never had him as a coach, because he takes away your responsibilities, I was talking to Clarence [Seedorf], you have the impression that he is playing on the PlayStation.
“He tells you everything you need to do. I remember that [Thierry] Henry, for example, when he was at Barcelona, Guardiola told him to stay wide, but Henry came inside to do one-two with [Lionel] Messi, he scored and after the first half Guardiola put him on the bench, he took him out, just because he didn’t respect his directives.”
That wasn’t all. He also accused him of ‘not wanting leaders’ and saying ‘he can’t manage players with personality.’
“Manchester City needs leaders, but Guardiola doesn’t want leaders,” Evra added, per Marca. “He doesn’t want personality. He’s the leader.
“That’s why when they’re in trouble they don’t want to… They don’t have anyone on the pitch to help them.
“He chooses his teams like that, he can’t train people with personality. He did it at Barcelona, but he builds his team to control everyone. When things go wrong, he always decides.”
Guardiola was asked about Evra’s comments ahead of City’s Premier League clash against Wolves on Wednesday evening.
He felt the need to hit back at the Frenchman.
