Patrice Evra hits Pep Guardiola with cutting Champions League jibe as war of words steps up

Patrice Evra has continued his war of words with Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola by naming the big reason for his recent Champions League woes.

Evra began the spat between the pair when he claimed last month that Guardiola “takes away your responsibilities”. The ex-Manchester United full-back added that the Spaniard “doesn’t want leaders or personalities”.

“He is a genius, but as a person, I don’t know him personally. I was surprised he even had time to answer to Patrice Evra, I am a retired player, I am doing my job.”

Evra added that Guardiola has not won the Champions League since 2011 because he is not still working with his Barcelona stars.

“I was a little surprised,”
