Pep Guardiola to remind Man City players of errors before Aston Villa finale

Manchester City players will have to watch through the worst of their 2-2 draw with West Ham when they return to training this week ahead of the final game of the season.

Pep Guardiola spent much of the first half at the London Stadium on Sunday with his head in his hands as West Ham tore the City defence to shreds, with the home side unfortunate not to score more than two goals amid a host of errors in the Blues backline. However, the team showed good character to fight back from 2-0 down at the break and could even have won the match if Riyad Mahrez had not seen a late penalty saved.

The point means that City lead Liverpool by four points in the final week of the season. They will be champions on Tuesday night if Southampton beat Jurgen Klopp's side but otherwise know that a home win against Aston Villa on the final day will confirm a fourth league title in five years.

Guardiola has given his players a few days off to "mentally disconnect" from a punishing schedule over the past six weeks, but when they return they will not be able to escape a dissection of the mistakes they made against West Ham. As the team look forward to the prospect of winning the title in front of their own fans, the manager will hope that they can take something useful from their struggles against West Ham into the Villa game.
