Pep Guardiola tells Jack Grealish harsh truth ahead of Man City D-day vs Aston Villa
Pep Guardiola has told Jack Grealish the harsh truth that the euphoria of winning a Premier League title is short-lived.
Grealish could win his first Premier League title with Man City on Sunday, when they face his boyhood club Aston Villa at the Etihad Stadium. City are one point ahead of Liverpool at the top of the table entering the final round of matches, with Liverpool playing Wolves at Anfield.
“I’m pretty sure, for Aston Villa he helped them be promoted," said Guardiola. "Maybe that’s his biggest title and then remaining in the Premier League, second one exceptional.
“For him to have never won a Premier League, it’s so exciting.
"The day after, we’ll be happy if we have won.
"But my advice is to try to be happy playing football, this is more important than winning titles.
"You feel alone after two or three days. That’s all? All the effort for that?
“Having it on your CV is good but no more than that.
"It’s magnificent and then you defend over a year being a champion. Someone has to take us out.”
