Pep Guardiola sends Liverpool FC Premier League title race warning as Man City hunt Arsenal

Pep Guardiola insists Liverpool are more than capable of catching Manchester City and Arsenal before the end of the season.

Liverpool and Arsenal both lost at home on the same day recently to hand the Premier League champions the upper hand in the final stretch of the title race, and Jurgen Klopp's team lost again on Wednesday as their season stalled at the worst possible time. City thrashed Brighton 4-0 to move two points clear of the Merseyside club with a game in hand, and one point behind Arsenal.

Many will now see the title race as down to a two-horse race as City and Arsenal duke it out to determine who will be crowned champions, with just a handful of games to go. However, Guardiola will not rule out Liverpool as he believes his own team and the Gunners are just as capable of being tripped up before the finishing line.

"Many things can happen," he said. "What happened to Liverpool dropping two games against Palace and Everton can happen to us and happen to Arsenal.

"Everton playing for their lives - like Forest. Maybe it was a real contender for us, my appreciation for Liverpool is higher than ever. You see the game they draw at Old Trafford, or yesterday, Pickford was exceptional.

"Against Palace, the chances they miss. Tell me the reason why? It's football. I can give examples for my team too. It's there. I know the character from Liverpool institution and team, they will fight until the end.
