Pep Guardiola's £59m signing has unleashed Man City record-breaker - it is bad news for their rivals
Omar Marmoush's 14-minute hat-trick in Manchester City's 4-0 win over Newcastle on Saturday should serve as a warning to their Premier League rivals.
That was the view of BBC pundits Alan Shearer and Joe Hart, who not only believe City's new £59m signing has already forged an understanding with Erling Haaland, but has also reinvigorated goalkeeper Ederson.
Marmoush was the star of the show as he scored his first goals in English football as City moved back into the top four of the Premier League table with a convincing win over their rivals.
And while Shearer was not happy with his former side's performance, he was very impressed by the partnership Marmoush and Haaland have struck up.
"He was brilliant, his finishing was superb, and everything about his game was impressive. He was a threat all afternoon and he already has a good understanding with Haaland," Sheared said on Match of the Day.
"If you look at the first goal, Haaland runs towards the ball and automatically he [Marmoush] knows he needs to run in behind. The defending from Newcastle is terrible but that is a quality finish.
"He was a threat, Newcastle couldn't live with him. It was much better from Manchester City but it was a horror show from Newcastle."
Former City goalkeeper Hart was quick to point out how Marmoush's arrival could unleash the distribution qualities of Ederson, after his assist for Marmoush's first goal saw him become the goalkeeper with most assists in Premier League history.
"He has rewritten that position and set such a high standard," Hart said of Ederson, who has come under fire for some of his recent performances.
