Pep Guardiola: Man City boss jokes Gundogan won't play again after wife's comments
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has jokingly said that he won’t play Ilkay Gundogan for another minute this season after his wife’s comments about the “horrible” Manchester food scene.
Gundogan’s wife, Sara Arfaoui, sparked widespread backlash when responding to an Instagram question sent in by one of her fans.
The fan simply posed the question: “Favourite restaurant in Manchester?”.
To which Arfaoui responded with a damning assessment of her inhabited city’s dining options.
Shared to her Instagram story, she wrote: “Sorry, I’m sad to be honest but nothing.

Many hit back at Arfaoui for her comments, including food critics Jay Rayner and Simon Wood, which sparked the Italian model to address the situation further.
“So, because we are successful people, we can’t give an honest opinion? I tried all the best restaurants here but for me it’s a no. I can’t lie.
“Unfortunately, I’m used to Italy so you can imagine it’s hard to compare.
“It’s a great city, great people but not for restaurants.”
Well, everyone’s entitled to their opinion at the end of the day and Arfaoui clearly has hers.
Guardiola, who co-owns a tapas restaurant in the city, was asked about his player’s wife’s remarks in Friday’s press conference.
He clearly hasn’t taken the comments to heart and gave a quite brilliant response.
