Pep Guardiola lashes out as Liverpool claimed to be the media's most supported club by Manchester City boss

Pep Guardiola has branded Liverpool the 'most supported' club as he lashed out during a post-match interview.

Speaking to the media after Sunday's 5-0 victory over Newcastle, the Manchester City boss was not afraid to mock his Premier League title challengers.

The Spaniard pointed out Liverpool's domestic 'success', poking fun at the fact the Merseysiders have won just one Premier League trophy in 30 years.

During the interview, Pep made his issue clear by deeming the media Liverpool supporters before saying more people want the Reds to win the title.

But the City boss followed up saying he simply does not care.

Speaking to beIN Sports after Sunday's clash, Pep said: "Everyone in this country supports Liverpool, the media and everyone...

"Liverpool have an incredible history behind them in European competitions, not in the Premier League though, they’ve won one in 30 years.

"Our destiny is in our hands, this is important. We have to look after ourselves.

"With one point or three points, nothing changes.

"Liverpool alongside United are the most important teams, in terms of legacy, history, dramas. But I don’t care.

"If the people want Liverpool to win more that us, it is not the issue.

"Maybe more supporters around the world, in England, support Liverpool than us but this is not the question."

After Sunday's clash, Manchester City moved three points clear of second place Liverpool.

With just three Premier League clashes left to play this campaign, Pep's side have one hand on the trophy with their fans chanting 'Championees' outside the Etihad after they thrashed Eddie Howe's Newcastle side 5-0.
