Pep Guardiola has already outlined how Man City will manage star striker Erling Haaland

Despite his scintillating form with Borussia Dortmund in Germany, Erling Haaland arrived at Manchester City with some doubters. Those queries were not about his goalscoring ability, or whether or not he could improve an already spectacular Blues side, but whether or not he could play frequently, while remaining fit and healthy.

The Norwegian frontman endured somewhat of injury-riddled season for Dortmund last term, but still managed 29 goals and eight assists in 30 appearances in competitions. The 22-year-old missed 16 matches through injuries and, while he was far from an injury-prone addition, there was a slight concern from some that he could suffer from reoccurring issues.

And yet, Haaland has featured in 13 of City's 14 matches so far this term, scoring a staggering 20 goals already. The records that the striker could go on to break are endless, and could simply come down to how often Guardiola wants to play him.

To the surprise of some, Guardiola opted to keep Haaland on the bench as City drew 0-0 with Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday night. While the Blues were far from desperate for the win, it was still two points dropped. However, the decision to leave their prolific striker on the bench, given the upcoming Premier League clash with Liverpool at the weekend, was probably sensible.

How City go about managing Haaland's minutes this term could prove to be a key in how successful Guardiola's side will be — especially if the club want to go far in all of the competitions they are competing in.
