Pep Guardiola gives Kyle Walker injury update and disagrees with Bernardo Silva over Man City talk

Pep Guardiola is yet to decide whether Kyle Walker will start for Manchester City against Real Madrid on Wednesday night but revealed his captain will be part of the squad for the Champions League quarter-final second leg.

Walker has been determined to be available for some part of the clash with Real, having played a key role in nullifying Vinicius Junior last season, especially in the 4-0 win at the Etihad, but he hasn't played since picking up a muscle injury on international duty in March.

The 33-year-old was back on the bench for the 5-1 win against Luton Town on Saturday. He didn't come on against the Hatters and Guardiola said he was still feeling some discomfort, but he has trained recently and will do so again on the eve of the return game with Real.

"Kyle trains good, he feels something but he feels good in his face and his mood. I don't know from the beginning or the bench but I think he will be with us tomorrow," said Guardiola.

"Today we have the last session and we will decide. Of course [Kyle] Walker is important. The attributes and quality of Kyle everyone knows it, he is special.

"You know the physicality is massively important and in football it is how you challenge your opponent. Everyone knows what Kyle has but he was not in the Bernabeu and all the guys were exceptional because in the Bernabeu we had a big problem because Nathan wasn't there, Josko was last minute, Kyle wasn't there so we had big problem.
