Pep Guardiola confident Man City fans can do what Real Madrid supporters didn't

Pep Guardiola declared that Manchester City fans will be good for one goal in the second leg after surviving the Bernabeu cauldron.

Real Madrid supporters turned up in a sea of white after a campaign backed by the players and the club were granted permission by UEFA to close the roof to make it even noisier. However, it was the small allocation of away fans that could be heard singing when City twice took the lead and they can be considered favourites for the second leg after leaving with a draw for a second straight year.

Guardiola praised the courage of his team to battle back from behind in the second half, and expects that City will have the advantage of home support in the second leg. If they can build on that platform and the work they have done in Madrid, they will be 180 minutes away from a third final in four years.

"We were unfortunate for the deflections but it's football. What I liked most is how we played in the second half, 2-1 down playing here without much composure," said Guardiola.

"They are so dangerous on transitions and could score more goals but we controlled the game really well. It's Madrid. It's special.

"We go 2-3 but here it is never over. We take the result, in one week in Manchester it will be sold out and our people will help us to score one goal and we will do the rest. We will try to reach the semi-final.
