Pep Guardiola reveals Man City stance on Nottingham Forest VAR integrity complaint

Pep Guardiola 'absolutely disagrees' with the claim made by Nottingham Forest at the weekend questioning the integrity of a referee.

Furious with a number of decisions while losing 3-0 to relegation rivals Everton, the club used an official social media account to highlight their unhappiness and added: "We warned the PGMOL that the VAR is a Luton fan before the game but they didn't change him. Our patience has been tested multiple times. NFFC will now consider its options."

The post is under investigation by the FA and was slammed by the Premier League, who said that it was 'never appropriate to improperly question the integrity of match officials' as they confirmed that they too are looking into the matter. Asked about the comments in his press conference ahead of their Premier League trip to Brighton, the Manchester City manager spoke up for the difficult jobs that referees do.

"I absolutely disagree [with the Forest statement]," he said. "These kind of things happen more and more in every league in the world but of course I never had doubts about that.

"The referees want to do the job as best as possible. They feel the pressure, we put pressure on them for the passion of the game for the moment but when I sit here and reflect they try to do their best and are under scrutiny with the cameras there. They make a mistake, they feel bad. It's normal.

"When they do the job, they want to do it well. The game is so difficult, it is fast and quick, decisions have to be made in one instant. It's not easy."
