Pep Guardiola addresses Erling Haaland injury worry ahead of Arsenal vs Man City

Pep Guardiola stopped short of confirming that Erling Haaland would be fit to face Arsenal on Wednesday.

Haaland started Sunday's match against Aston Villa but was brought off at half-time with a thigh injury, having allowed Riyad Mahrez to take a penalty City were given despite the No.9 being the designated taker. Guardiola suggested after the game that the substitution was precautionary, saying that he may not have taken him off had the team not already been 3-0 up.

City raised the hopes of fans that the striker would be involved at the Emirates after the club posted pictures of him in training on social media on Monnday. However, the City boss said that he would have to wait for the session on Tuesday before deciding on his lineup.

"We train this afternoon. Right now I don’t know.," he said "Yesterday was about recovery from Aston Villa. That’s all."

Julian Alvarez came on for Haaland in the second half against Aston Villa and would be expected to take his place should the Norwegian be deemed not fit enough to take part. Haaland, though, will be given every opportunity to prove his fitness before the Blues finalise their plans for their top-of-the-table clash.
