Pep Guardiola a 'massive fan' of Anthony Gordon and more Man City transfer rumours

Pep Guardiola is reportedly 'a massive fan' of Anthony Gordon as Manchester City look to strengthen their squad in the last week of the transfer window.

According to Sports Illustrated, the City manager is believed to be a serious admirer of the 21-year-old who has attracted interest from Premier League rivals Chelsea this summer. It is believed that Gordon would be an ideal replacement for City winger Riyad Mahrez - the player turned 31 this year.

However, Guardiola's interest in the player will not make a potential deal any cheaper for City. Everton are thought to be holding out for a fee of up to £60million after the club rejected an initial £40million offer from Thomas Tuchel's side.

Elsewhere, Barcelona have reportedly not given up hope of signing Bernardo Silva this transfer window.

According to Spanish outlet Sport (via Sport Witness), Xavi 'still dreams' of signing Silva this summer. The two clubs face each other in a mid-week friendly match at the Camp Nou and City fans will be hoping that this will be the only time the Portuguese international steps on to the pitch this season.

With just over a week left in the transfer window, Guardiola will not be keen to let a player leave the club and disrupt his plans for the rest of the Premier League season. Should the La Liga side want to tempt the Blues into selling, it is believed that they will have to submit an offer of at least £80m before City even consider sanctioning the deal.
