'People always abuse a situation, but I can’t grumble'

Soon after Miami Crispy — a chicken shop in Burnage — went viral on TikTok, neighbours’ lives changed dramatically.

As customers flocked to the Lane End Road takeaway for a much-sought-after spicy chicken burger, residents say they were hit by a litany of issues. Cars would stop outside its parade of shops and leave their hazard warning lights on. Sometimes they would double park.

Litter was spotted in the street, attracting seagulls. Orange-and-white takeaway bags were pictured piled high around bins. And there were arguments over parking bays outside a row of houses on the corner of Burnage Lane, prompting residents to find their own solution by placing cones out.

“I can honestly say it’s 90 percent better than it was before. The rubbish is not as bad, there’s more bins.”

Sadia Habib, who has called the area home for 14 years, added ‘it’s sorted now’.

“[Customers] go down the road,” she explained. “The litter is sorted as well, usually the bins get cleaned every day and at the weekend. I think it was spring, March or April, when they did these posts and lines.”

The ‘posts’ she referred to are new signage installed by housing
