Pauw calls up Keane and McLaughlin for Morocco friendly

Republic of Ireland manager Vera Pauw has handed senior call-ups to Shelbourne's Katie Keane and Peamount United's Erin McLaughlin for the upcoming friendly against Morocco, which forms part of a training camp in Spain.

Keane and McLaughlin are the only first-time call-ups for the training camp in Marbella, which commences on 7 November.

The 16-year old keeper Keane was part of the Shelbourne side, which recently claimed back-to-back Women's National League titles and has represented Ireland at U-16, U-17 and U-19 level, while the Donegal-born McLaughlin scored six goals from midfield for Peamount in her first season in the WNL.

Glasgow City attacker Emily Whelan returns to the squad along with Wexford Youths midfielder Aoibheann Clancy and Shelbourne defender Jessie Stapleton, who missed the last camp due to captaining the Ireland WU19s.

Injuries rule out Savannah McCarthy, Megan Connolly, Ruesha Littlejohn, Ellen Molloy, Jess Ziu, Aoife Colvill and Leanne Kiernan, while Heather Payne is unavailable.

Ireland face Morocco in Marbella on 14 November, both teams beginning their preparations for next summer's World Cup, with the Moroccans placed in Group H alongside Germany, Columbia and South Korea.
