Paul Scholes proven right with Andre Onana Manchester United warning after just 25 minutes
Paul Scholes has been proven right after yet another error from Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana.
The Cameroon international made an error off the pitch after his less-than-complimentary comments about Lyon. He then followed it up with another questionable decision after having a pop back at former United midfielder Nemanja Matic, now at Lyon.
And the errors keep coming from Onana, with the former Inter Milan keeper at fault for Lyon's opening goal against the Reds on Thursday evening. It leaves United under pressure in their Europa League quarter-final first-leg tie, with Europe's second-tier competition their only chance of rescuing a desperately poor season.
Ex-Reds midfielder Scholes warned about the consequences of Onana's words before kick-off. The former England international also questioned Matic's response after the Serbian laid into the United goalkeeper.
"I don't think it was something I would have done or we as a team would have done, try and provoke a team saying you're better than them is not something that's very wise," Scholes said on TNT Sports.
"They have to perform now. We know what's been said, and I think Matic reacted slightly, a little bit too aggressively towards him. But look I don't mind that a bit of needle between the two teams. That's gonna happen in games.
"They just both have to prove that. They're gonna have to get the right result at the end of the night."
Thankfully for United, Leny Yoro went on to equalise after Onana's error in the 25th minute. Scholes added at half-time: "He's probably wishing he kept his mouth shut before the game, I would've thought.
"It's a really bad mistake, a good ball, the lad gets across the front post, we thought it could've been offside but Yoro
